Health As A Lifestyle

Being a healthy person or enjoying good health is not something that happens suddenly, but involves a process, habits or, what is the same, a lifestyle. Each person can adapt their care routine, what we must bear in mind is that this lifestyle is not only based on exercising and eating well. It goes further and is related to achieving mental and physical balance.

Coinciding with World Health Day, which is celebrated every year on April 7, we wanted to shed light on the concept of "health" and explain what it means to be a healthy person and take care of yourself. We usually believe that health is related exclusively to the physical and we forget that mental health can be even more important. If a person wants to take care of themselves and decides to start with a healthy diet and exercise regimen, the first thing they are testing is their will.

To help promote that healthy lifestyle, we show you some guidelines for eating, activity, as well as rest and relaxation

Feeding guidelines

Eating balanced and varied should be the first commandment in our day to day. Vegetables should be the base of any dish since they provide numerous vitamins and minerals and contain water, something that also helps keep our body hydrated. In addition, we must not forget to incorporate portions of legumes, meats, eggs, dairy products and carbohydrates to our menu, as well as taking between three and four weekly servings of fish, which provides good quality protein to our body.

Activity routines

Staying active doesn't just mean hitting the gym, it's about having an active lifestyle. For example, if we have the opportunity to walk to work, we must, since our body needs to be activated and be in motion.

Also, within the activity routines, practicing sports is one of them. When we do some sporting activity, our body generates endorphins, something that acts directly by improving our mood. In addition, physical activity helps us not only burn fat but also strengthen our muscles and bones and feel better.

Rest and disconnection, mandatory

Although we have already experienced that our body is capable of performing at 200% every day, it is necessary that we stop to rest and, not only that, that this rest is real and effective: we must allow ourselves to completely disconnect from work or Of the routine in which we are absorbed.

To achieve this disconnection, the most important thing is to put the mobile aside, take the opportunity to exercise, enjoy family, meet friends or dedicate time to our hobbies.

But resting goes further; It also refers to sleep, to the number of hours we sleep. Each person needs a certain number of hours of sleep, with eight being the generally recommended amount. We must not forget that it is very important to have dinner sometime before going to bed and disconnect or silence any technological device that can activate us again. The main objective when we go to bed is to sleep and, prior to that, we must prepare our bodies.

Guidelines for achieving global health

To comply with all these guidelines, the planning of each of them is necessary. As for food, we must prepare a weekly menu that contains all the necessary foods, as well as establish a weekly exercise or sports routine. And finally, the sleep routine should be similar every day, since it is important that our body gets used to some habits and understands it as normal.
